The VM-610 Mono Phono Cartridge Mono LP from Audio Technica has a conical bonded stylus in the specialized 600 series mono body, dedicated to monaural sound. The internal wiring reduces the surface noise giving you a stable reproduction of your vinyl.

This cartridge has a dual magnet design, so instead of using a single large magnet, it has two magnets arranged in a "V" shape. The two magnets are positioned as such, that they match the positions of the left and right channels in the stereo groove walls of the vinyl. Therefore, the VM design gives outstanding channel separation, an extended frequency response and also superb tracking ability.

Paratoroidal coils are employed to improve the generating efficiency and give great linearity since as the leakage of magnetic flux in this continuous and unitised magnetic circuit is low. The permeability of the cores has also been optimised through the use of laminated cores.

For mono operation, left and right channels should be connected. A mono body on which left and right terminals are connected internally reduces record vinyl noise which is primarily in the vertical direction and obtains a highly focused ‘centre’ sound image compared with stereo body cartridges.
